STANDARDS AND CERTIFICATIONS

This module will introduce standards and certifications as an option to help your organisation reach sustainability-conscious consumers and access to fairer prices for products.

MODULE OVERVIEW

Standards and certifications classify products and companies into sustainable, providing voluntary guidelines and rules for companies in order for them to follow and limit the negative impacts of their products on people or the environment. Standards and certifications aim to protect workers, communities, land, and human rights while moderating the environmental impacts of production and consumption.

By outlining the most relevant standards of LATAM and Africa -based MSMES, both voluntary and legally binding, this module aims to help them navigate the different existing standards and certifications as well as outline the process to help them meet the criteria to become certified.

At first your organization may not be ready to become certified, however, with HxN toolkit Best Practices you will be able to identify sustainable practices that can be adopted before engaging with certification bodies.

• This toolkit will help your company to find a suitable certification that will help your business to be more sustainable, gain consumers and more qualified markets.
• This section includes a roadmap to achieve these practices better. We also help you in the development of your organizations since the toolkit will offer a roadmap to achieve our HxN Best Practices with tools designed for both micro/small enterprises and medium, formalized manufacturing organizations.

Additionally, sustainability reports and impact assessments are significant activities required to maintain certain certification status. Sustainability reports communicate the economic, environmental and social impacts of an organization’s activities.

• Our guide will provide organizations with the necessary information to start their reporting process and help you understand as well as communicate your organization’s sustainability impacts.

Impact assessments are required to identify the future consequences of a current or future action. This module includes the reasons why and the process of impact assessments as well as the online tools that can assist the user.
