DESIGN THINKING

MODULE 1: INTRODUCTION TO DESIGN THINKING

In Module 1 we look at Design Thinking through the lens of sustainability. We learn about the concepts surrounding Human-Centered design and how to ideate, prototype, and implement solutions for the challenges the fashion industry faces around sustainability nowadays. Here, you will find an introduction to sustainable systems, concepts, and solutions and gain an understanding of how we can use the United Nations Sustainability Goals to achieve systemic change in the fashion industry. We use the assignments in each module to guide you step by step through Design Thinking processes.

MODULE 2: IDEATION, PAIN POINTS & DEFINING PROBLEMS

We find out how to organize and map your ideas around sustainable concepts such as Zero waste, localization, and circularity. We examine cause and effect and learn how to analyze and define problems concisely. We use our ideation and solution cards to identify problems and create system maps and affinity clusters to move your ideas forward. We learn directly from industry professionals, through webinars and interviews by industry leaders like Peclers, Eileen Fisher, Rahul Mishra Fashion Of Tomorrow, and the Para-Olympian Samanta Bollock.

MODULE 3: HUMAN-CENTERED DESIGN

Human-Centered Design works as a pathway to sustainable design and circular systems.


Are you asking the right questions? Are you listening and empathizing with your potential customers? In this module, you will learn how to understand consumer habits and how to validate your sustainable product or service using Design Thinking.

MODULE 4: SOLUTIONS

We examine existing and potential circular solutions for the fashion industry. Watch our round table discussion with female entrepreneurs working in the sustainability space in fashion.
This Module includes interviews, webinars, and podcasts with known international stakeholders and players in the fashion industry like Stephanie Benedetto cofounder of the Queen of RAW, Eileen Fisher, and UNECE.

MODULE 5: RAPID PROTOTYPING

Learn about the benefits of rapid prototyping and how to iterate successfully. We use Design Thinking to help you create MVP (minimum viable product) and create a unique value proposition for your product or service.

MODULE 6: PILOTS, TESTING, IMPLEMENTATION

We understand the challenges involved in working with micro Artisanal brands creating pilots and implementing your solutions. Learn more about capacity building from Simone Cipriani, director of the UN's Ethical Fashion Initiative. Gain insight into Hecho por Nosotros ecosystem and watch videos of Ariana Marina talking about working with Artisans. Learn about the preservation of Artisanal techniques in Japan with brands like Kata-kata and explore and capacity building in South America.
